Reusable Party Popper

How to Make a Reusable Party Popper

The kids don’t have to miss out on all the fun this New Year’s Eve with this Reusable Party Popper. They are easy to make and fun to decorate. Plus you get to use them over and over and over. Find out how below.

So let’s get started.

How to Make a Reusable Party Popper

First, let’s get everything ready so you can leave the little ones to get busy and avoid all those interruptions.

Skill Level – Med

Time Required – 20 minutes

What you will need

  • Milk bottle cap
  • Paper roll to fit bottle cap
  • Toilet paper roll
  • Straw
  • Colored paper / card
  • Sticky tape
  • Glitter / sequins / streamers
  • Colored tissue paper
  • Glue gun

Step 1

First, cut the larger paper roll so that it is shorter than the toilet paper roll (approx 8cm). Then cover with some colored paper of your choosing.

Step 2

Next, you need to put a blob of glue on the inside of the milk bottle cap in the center then stick the straw to the cap.

Step 3

Slip the toilet paper roll over the straw. It should sit nicely inside the milk bottle cap.  If it doesn’t then cut along the length of the toilet paper roll and fit inside the bottle cap.

Sticky tape the toilet paper roll to hold in place then glue inside the milk bottle cap. Cover the toilet roll in colored paper.

Step 4

Cut a strip of card 3cm wide then wrap around the larger paper roll and trim. Make sure it slides up and down the paper roll before you tape it together as this will act as a reusable band for the party popper.

Step 5

Then use a cup or small bowl to draw a circle onto tissue paper larger than the toilet paper roll and cut out. Place on the larger paper roll and slip on the 3cm band over the top holding the tissue paper in place.

Step 6

Fill the tube with glitter, sequins or streamers then put the toilet roll with the straw attached inside the tube.  This will hold the glitter and streamer in place until your child is ready to pop it.

You are now ready to pop your reusable party popper.

Don’t forget to cut out some spare tissue paper circles so you can reuse your popper until you run out of sparkly things to fill it with.
